Why we’re called November Fourth

The name above our workshop door is a birthday. Here's why we named a business after a date, and why we think everyone has one of their own.

November the fourth is our son's birthday. It's the day everything rearranged itself around one small person, and when it came to naming the workshop, no other name came close.

A date you don't need a calendar for

Everyone has a date like ours. A birthday, a wedding, the day you met, the day someone left. Dates that don't need a calendar, because you carry them anyway.

We started November Fourth to give those dates somewhere to live. Something you can hold, hang or hand down, rather than one more thing that ends up in a drawer.

Made to be kept

That's why everything we make is engraved to order, one piece at a time, here in the Black Country. Not printed, not mass-made. Oak, real leaves and pieces built to last longer than the packaging they arrive in.

Every word is read by a person before it's engraved. If something looks off, a spelling, a date, a stray capital, we'll ask before we cut. It's a small thing, but when the words are the whole point, it matters.

What's your date?

Whether it's a birthday, an anniversary or a day only you would recognise, we'd love to help you keep it. Find your keepsake, or read more about us.
